IRDAI’s health insurance portal will reduce unreasonable hospital bills

IRDAI's Portal will Reduce Unreasonable Hospital Bills

Hospital overcharging has been a frequent complaint from patients and health insurance providers, but no solution has been discovered. A health insurance portal with information on all health insurance plans and claims is being prepared by the regulatory body for the insurance industry, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

Hospitals will use this platform to submit claims that they have indicated to insurance providers and TPA. There will be information on claim settlement on this portal as well.

Additionally, the new gateway will aid in the detection of fraudulent claims and reveal whether two institutions are switching providers for the same kind of therapies.

Making preparations for a new health insurance gateway

  • Work is still being done to provide a single gateway for all health insurance policies and claims.
  • IRDAI is in charge of overseeing the portal’s construction.
  • Through this health insurance gateway, TPA and insurance companies will receive information.
  • The site will probably be crucial in identifying bogus claims.
  • The portal will also assist in determining whether hospitals are charging excessive amounts for services.

If fraudulent claims decline, health insurance premiums will likely be lowered.

  • It will be simple to determine whether various institutions are charging various amounts for the same types of procedures.
  • All information pertaining to policies and claims will be available to IRDAI.
