Niva Bupa Safeguard is an add-on to various health insurance plans from Niva Bupa, that can make the plan more beneficial to the insured.
Safeguard is a rider that can only be endorsed with the Base Plan; it cannot be purchased independently or as a separate item. Only claims made within India throughout the Policy Period are eligible for this Rider. Only if it is clearly listed in Your Base Plan’s Policy Schedule will the rider be offered. This rider is subject to the same waiting periods, permanent exclusions, definitions, claims process, and general terms and conditions as the Base Plan.
Safeguard benefit gives you the freedom to go beyond and to secure your health and finances even further, by letting you control different aspects of your policy, such as:
- Claim Safeguard Cover: Niva Bupa provides claim safeguard cover as an additional benefit in which the insured customer can claim on otherwise non-payable items up to the sum insured in case of hospitalization like conveyance charges, gloves, nebulisation kits, oxygen masks and more. If Niva Bupa has approved a hospitalisation claim under the Base Plan, they will additionally cover the costs of the fees listed in List I, “Expenses Not Covered,” under Annexure “The Expenses Not Covered or Subsumed Into Room Charges, Procedure Charges, or Costs of Treatment.”
- Booster Benefit Safeguard: Booster benefit safeguard means there would be no impact on the booster benefit even if there are claim in a policy year. The limit of claims which are allowed under the booster benefit safeguard is Rs.50k below which the booster benefit would be safe.
- Sum insured Safeguard: Sum insured safeguard increases the base sum insured on a cumulative basis each policy year based on inflation rate. Inflation rate would be computed as the average Consumer Price index (CPI) of the entire calendar year published by the Central Statistical Organization (CSO). There is no maximum limit on increase in Sum Insured under this optional cover.
